Engineering and America

Why is it that a student in a top range mechanical engineering school isn't expected to be able to fix his own bike? To me this seems utterly stupid. Yes there are things that they might not know about, but the whole reason that they are in university is to develop a mind that can solve problems. Besides, in university, the marvel that is the Internet is accelerated into a beast that has all knowledge. You want to know how to weave spokes? Look it up. Same thing goes for adjusting breaks, raising the seat, changing the rims, anything. So. Bike was wrecked, bike is now unwrecked, and you have no idea how wonderful having a bike is. Especially one as nice as mine. It's got its problems, but all in all, she is a perfect bike for me. Tough enough to deal with curbs, but a little bit of road bike in her as well. Ideal for all the pavement: the narrow tires (one of which is 50% brand new. Thought I couldn't true a wheel, didja Christina?) don't produce nearly as much drag as the standard mountain bike. Anywayz, I'm back in business. With wheels. Rock on.

I'm so proud of you Graham. You have proved your true brilliance by fixing your bike. Now come fix mine.

Okay, so maybe you proved me wrong...I'm really glad you fixed it though. *giggles* We need to talk Andrew into blogging again before he starts Purdue in January!!!!!!

what's wrong with Jeffrey's bike??
and how come there is a way to subscribe to comments on each post, but no way to subscribe to the posts? since I can only get to blogspot randomly every few weeks. . .

hah, broken again eh? You shoulda taken it to a professional...know-it-all freshman. Anyways, Jasmine the main problem with my bike is that the brakes don't work anymore...which is fine, except I end up going pretty fast...And scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can subscribe to the posts there.

yes, it is broken again. BUT ITS A DIFFERENT PART THIS TIME! I fixed the thing that busted the first time, now I have to fix this. Shouldn't be too hard... And since when is speed a bad thing?

no brakes. ..just take it to the bike guy. . .oh wait, you live in Yemen, there's not one on every street corner there. . .
Anyways, so I went down to the bottom of the page and tried to subscribe, but it didn't give me the option after hitting that button. It offered me emailing the link or bookmarking, and I was like, what the crap, I don't need to do either of those things. And that area isn't even on Jeffrey's blog. . .whatever.

I didn't know you could subscribe to blogs...shows you how little I know....

I tried telling him the same thing, Jeffrey. Some day he'll pay for it though. (no hint intended)

SPEED=good
SPEED + NO BREAKS= broken bones, hurt heads and knees, dented trees...bad
