Glorious Ping Pong

Today Mom and Peter and Lydia all went to Tennessee or somewhere thereabouts. Yesterday, Dad went to Yemen, and that left Abraham and myself at my grandparents, and they felt obliged to entertain us for some reason, so they took us to the library and I finally got Dune Messiah, by Frank Herbert, a book I have wanted to read for the past year and a half. (So far it is living up to its predecessor: its loaded with subtlety and complexity in a speculative fiction matrix: what could be better?) After that, we went to a fitness center which had, glory of glories, a ping pong table I played my second sport this summer. The first was ultimate Frisbee out at the Kesslers, and this was the second. (very sad showing, I was hoping to play American football and some other things as well, but all the respectable teens have all gone off and gotten jobs, and the rest sit entranced in front of their Xbox.) Anyway, I played for an hour and a half or so, and I feel great. I had to play with standard American paddles which are like wood. No good, considering that I had one of my now three paddles, and Abe had his at our grandparents house. (one of my four paddles broke. Horrible.) But I got on, and I realized that I am out of shape. Very out of shape. Not a surprise though, considering the amount I have not been exercising. This was kind of a random post, but hey, I guess we are all allowed a small amount of insanity at least.

who are "all the respectable teens"? ;-) Hehe ultimate frisbee is the best...but i am oh so bad at it! actually, i'm pretty bad when it comes to most sports. i like ping pong better with round robbin/around the world. oh and i hate american football (probably 'cause I don't really understand it), but aussie rules football is amazing! You'll have to come over here so we can teach you!

Ping-Pong is a lot of fun. Did you only play it with Abe or with other people as well?
Only 2 sports over an entire summer is rather sad Graham. You should try to convince the "respectable teens" to do stuff with you.
Oh, we are going to play ultimate frisbee here in Yemen like the week before you get back. You're going to just barely miss it!

respectable teens...all the ones who don't run around in pants four sizes too small with chains and bright red mowhawks... Is Ausi football also called Rugbee? (I am not sure on the spelling on that one...) I have played that, and it is possibly even better than American Football, but no one knows how to play that here.

I did discover that I was out of shape while playing ping pong, and yes that was sad, but you haven't seen me play. I played with abe and with this little kid who couldn't distinguish between ball and paddle...well, he wasn't that bad, but then I have played a significant amount more than the average american.

bummer about missing frisbee, you'll have to do another one. unfortunatelly, in addition to being out of shape, the atmosphere will throw me too...
